Building and Inspections

Overview

The Building and Inspections Division oversees compliance for all new construction and renovation projects, covering building structure, heating and mechanical systems, plumbing, and electrical work.

The Division also supports several code boards in the review and updates of requirements and the licensing of professional contractors.

Permits & Application Process

  • To determine whether your project requires a permit, please contact the Building Inspector at (309) 787-8527. Discussing your project early in the planning stage ensures that you understand all requirements.

  • Once your application, drawings, and specifications are submitted then final plan review can be completed by the Building and Inspections Division staff.  For most new construction and renovation, the Village aims to complete your plan review within fifteen business days.
